Ferizaj/Uroševac, Serbia

International Spatial Design Competition for the Mobility Centre
Project

(2007 - 2008)

In 2007, The Municipality of Ferizaj/Uroševac, Serbia proposed a “Spatial Design Competition” as a means to achieve a 'Mobility Centre'.

UN-HABITAT Kosovo co-funded the project and supported the International Competition. The Competition was organised with a view to exploring measures as reflected in the “Urban Charter of Ferizaj/Uroševac City Centre”.

The Designs were crucial to change the economic climate of the city by utilising the railway station and the bus terminal as a regional hub for public transport.

The proposals were 'pragmatic', 'futuristic' as well as in line with the UN Charter:

  • 'Economically' viable.

  • 'Socially' acceptable.

  • 'Environmentally' sustainable.  â€‹â€‹
